Thacher State Park has miles of limestone cliffs, which are full of fossils. Route development has been done recently, with 99 routes (ranging from 5.5 to 5.12d with 3 projects) bolted in the past few years, and potential for a couple hundred more. The park is just 30 minutes West of Albany, NY and provides a panorama view of the Hudson-Mohawk, Adirondack, and Green Mountain regions. In addition to sport climbing, there are plenty of other activities to appeal to families and non-climbers.
